9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide (Posted 5/1/24)
10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide (Expired 5/1/24)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE
UPDATED CCSD PGS REFERENCE GUIDE

The transition to the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide adheres to the following understandings:

  1. Activities completed prior to 5/1/24 will accrue via the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide categories and maximums.
    • Example: Under the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide, educators serving in Title I schools were able to accrue CUs under “Parent or Community Engagement Participation.” In the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide, this category was absorbed into “Parent or Community Engagement Leadership” and the maximum was increased. If activities were completed under “Parent or Community Engagement Participation” prior to 5/1/24, your CUs would accrue under the maximum stipulated in the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide.

  1. Activities completed on or after 5/1/24 will accrue via the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide categories and maximums.
    • Example: In the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide, the “Parent or Community Engagement Leadership” activity maximum was increased from 20 CUs to 30 CUs for all educators. If activities are completed under “Parent or Community Engagement Leadership” after 5/1/24, your CUs would accrue under the new maximum as stipulated in the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide.

  1. If a licensed employee has accrued CUs in line with the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide maximums on or before 5/1/24 that exceed the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide maximums, then the employee will keep the higher amount of CUs accrued up to the higher category maximum.
    • Example: In the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide, “Participating as a Member of the IEP/MDT Team” increased from 22 CUs per salary cycle to 30 CUs. If an educator exceeded 22 CUs on or before 5/1/24, they can accrue CUs in line with the new maximum of 30 CUs as stipulated in the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide.

  1. If a licensed employee has not met or exceeded a 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide category maximum based on activities completed through 5/1/24, then the employee’s CU accrual will be held to the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide maximums.
    • Example: In the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide, “Participating in Professional Learning Communities” accrues 30 CUs for all educators; although in the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide educators could accrue 40 CUs per salary cycle if they served in a Title I, Tier I or II school. If the educator has not met or exceeded the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide maximum of 30 CUs through 5/1/24, they will be able to accrue CUs in line with the new maximum of 40 CUs as stipulated in the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide.

  1. Activities being claimed for CU accrual to a higher maximum (10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide) that are completed after the 5/1/24 posting of the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide will need the employee to also submit registration confirmation of the activity to ensure the activity was registered/paid for prior to the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide posting.
    • For example, participation at professional development conferences had no maximum under the 10/16/17 PGS Reference Guide. A new maximum of 80 CUs per salary cycle is stipulated in the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide. If an educator signed up for a conference that occurs during the summer of 2024, and the number of CUs accrued would exceed the 9/1/23 PGS Reference Guide maximum, the educator can accrue the CUs if proof of registration and payment was received by the professional learning conference organizer prior to 5/1/24.
